What I Wish I Knew Before Creating My First Digital Product

When I created my very first digital product, I had zero experience, limited time, and no real plan—just a gut feeling that I needed to start.

I was tired. I had a newborn. I was working full-time and homeschooling. But somewhere between exhaustion and curiosity, I carved out a pocket of time—and I opened Canva.

Looking back now, I realize I didn’t need more time or confidence—I needed three things:

1. Simple Tools Matter

You don’t need to be a designer, coder, or tech expert. Here’s what I used:

  • Canva for design

  • Google Docs for planning and writing

  • Etsy or Stan Store to sell

That’s it. Your tools should feel light and intuitive—not overwhelming.

2. Your Mindset Is the Most Important Asset

The biggest hurdle wasn’t tech—it was me.

  • I thought I had to be “ready.”

  • I thought I needed a full brand.

  • I thought no one would buy from me.

Truth: Clarity comes after you begin. The mindset shift was realizing I could create before I felt ready—and that starting messy is actually a superpower.

3. Small Wins Build Massive Momentum

That first digital product? It didn’t make me rich overnight—but it gave me:

  • A sense of ownership

  • A spark of creativity

  • The confidence to keep going

Every small win matters. One sale. One DM. One download. Let that be enough to take the next step.

If you're in the beginning stages, I want you to know: You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to begin.
